Art Appreciation
(BCCC Concurrent Credit Optional)
This course is an introduction to art appreciation intended to
provide a foundation in the basic concepts, materials and
processes of the visual arts, as well as a brief history of art
in the Western and non Western societies. Through analysis
of examples drawn from the past and the present, it assists the
students in recognizing the universal qualities in human
aesthetic response and the special differences that define
every culture. This course will provide the students with a
fundamental knowledge of the visual arts and their historical
backgrounds. Through a study of the elements of art and
principles of design, including direct hands on working
experience with a variety of media, the student will be able to
appreciate, understand, and make an intelligent decision as
to what is a successful work of art.
Fee: $25 HHS Art fee , BCCC tuition for concurrent
credit (3hrs.).
