Physics I Honors (QAR)
This science course incorporates mathematics, to seek the
understanding of the principle and laws associated with
astronomy, chemistry, earth science, and physics. It is taught at
an accelerated pace with increased student responsibility.
Topics include plate tectonics and boundaries, earth changes,
geologic time, atmospheric conditions, organization and
development of the universe, atomic structure, periodic
properties, chemical bonds, inertia, velocity, acceleration & net
force, action/reaction forces, conservation of momentum/
energy of interpretation of graphs, technical writing, solving
linear equations for one variable, and unit conversions. These
topics align with the assessed items within the high school
Kansas State Science Standards.
Recommended for 9th graders in advanced math and science
classes.

Prerequisite: Algebra I
Year: 1 credit
Supplies: notebook, calculator, 12” ruler (must include cm
markings), protractor, 2 "AAA" Everready batteries, 1/2” 3 ring
