HHS track finishes third and fourth at Kearney

KEARNEY, Neb. -- The Hays High School track and field team was the only Kansas school at Saturday's Kearney Invitational, with the Indian boys taking third and the HHS girls finishing fourth.

Highlighting the boys' side, Josh Munsch won the 1,600-meter run in four minutes, 29.85 seconds, while Solomon Jackson won the 400-meter dash in 50.49 seconds and took third in the 200 with a time of 22.57.

Hays High's 1,600-meter and 3,200-meter relays both took second. Trenton Oborny was third in the pole vault (13-0). The 1,600 relay finished with a time of 3:34.60, while the 3,200 relay ran 8:39.62.

Highlighting the girls' side was Ashli Dryden's first-place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 34 feet, 2 1/2 inches.

Erica Deines was third in the shot put (33-4 1/4), Ticha Rebarchek was third in the discus (105-6), Samantha Hardwick was third in the long jump (15-7), Raena Sander was third in the 800-meter run (2:34.12) and the 1,600 relay was second in 4:21.11.
