Impacts of Physics

Making Public Service Announcements - a photo journal

This project is funded by the the Toyota Tapestry program for $10,000.

The inspiration for this project occurred one rainy Saturday morning on the way to the funeral of yet another student killed in a car crash, where the all-too-familiar story of alcohol use coupled with seat belt non-use was once again told.  The statistics are clear: the leading cause of adolescent deaths is motor vehicle accidents.

Adolescents exhibit a strange disconnect between what they know and what they do in that they don’t believe that the laws of physics apply to their own bodies.  Hard data indicate otherwise. . . Local students need to confront their constructs of invulnerability with a true understanding of inviolate physical laws.
